What is Ultherapy?

Ultherapy

Ultherapy

Ultherapy is a noninvasive tissue tightening treatment that utilizes the power of ultrasound energy to firm the skin on and around your face. The FDA-approved innovative protocol is the only ultrasound facial rejuvenation technique available on the market today.

What happens during an Ultherapy session?

A cool gel is spread over the treatment area at the beginning of the procedure. With a small wand, Dr. Darush or Nurse Singh locate key areas beneath your skin’s surface that can benefit most from the focused ultrasound energy. The energy charges up your body’s collagen production and instantly begins to firm and tighten your skin. While the ultrasound is at work, you won’t feel any pain.

What side effects does Ultherapy cause?

Ultherapy is cleared by the FDA in part because there's such little risk associated with the procedure. The most common side effect of Ultherapy is a sensation akin to a sunburn. It rarely happens, but swelling is possible. Don’t worry, though: Any side effects you experience are minor and resolve on their own within 24 hours.

How many Ultherapy treatments do I need?

The majority of men and women only need one Ultherapy session to get great results. If you suffer from severe skin laxity or excess drooping, you may benefit from additional treatments. Dr. Darush may recommend a combination of skin treatments to maximize the results for your skin. For example, facial fillers pair well with Ultherapy: While Ultherapy restores elasticity to your skin, a facial filler works in conjunction with it to plump and add volume to your face.

Is Ultherapy painful?

Ultherapy treatments can be painful and cause discomfort while the energy is being delivered, but it is temporary, tolerable and a signal that the collagen-building process has been initiated. Perceptions of comfort vary from patient to patient and we take measures to make the experience as pleasant as possible [customize based on practice’s comfort management protocol (e.g. topical numbing creams, premedication, cooling fans)]. Patients leave comfortable and happy given the results. Ultherapy pain is extremely tolerable if you arrive 20 minutes before your appointment to apply the numbing cream over the area being treated. Numbing cream is provided at no cost.

Are there any side effects with Ultherapy?

There may be slight redness for up to an hour following the treatment, and a small percentage of patients may have slight swelling or tenderness to touch, but these are mild and temporary in nature.

How long does it last?

Patients treated with Ultherapy still have fresh young collagen after a year’s time, but skin continues to age. Yearly touch-up treatments can help keep pace with the aging process.

Is it safe?

Ultrasound energy has a proven track record, with use in medical imaging for over 50 years. In addition, the procedure has been cleared by the FDA after demonstrating safety in clinical studies, and over 50,000 treatments have been performed worldwide without any significant adverse events.

The Non-invasive Lift:

Ultherapy is the only non-invasive procedure FDA-cleared to lift skin on the neck, under the chin and on the eyebrow. Now also FDA-cleared to improve the appearance of lines and wrinkles on the décolletage, Ultherapy can help you achieve a fresher, more youthful look from your brow to your chest!

Ultherapy – FDA approved for non-invasive skin tightening and lifting of the Brow, Neck, Chin and the Chest.

Ultherapy combines ultrasound imaging with ultrasound heat to actually lift lax skin without disrupting the surface of the skin. That’s right, a lift without surgery. What is so amazing is that for the first time Ultherapy allows the physician to visualize the layers of soft tissue below the skin without cutting so the energy can be delivered to the correct depth for maximal results. Ultherapy it is cleared by the FDA for the face and neck and has a specific indication for brow lifting.

The sound waves from the Ultherapy device are concentrated at a focal point where it contracts the tissue and initiates a collagen rebuilding process. The results can be immediate but the full effect takes up to 90 days while tired collagen is replaced with new, stronger collagen. You can think of Ultherapy as a process that “jump starts” your skin’s ability to produce fresh new collagen. Not everyone is a candidate. If the area under the chin has light to moderate sagging dramatic results can be seen.
