What is an IPL Photofacial?

Intense pulsed light (IPL) is a phototherapy protocol for your skin, where concentrated pulses of light permeate deep into your skin’s layers and cause blood vessel constriction and collagen production that diminishes redness, spider veins, brown spots, and large pores. Over time, your skin becomes firmer, softer, and more youthful in appearance.

What issues are treated with an IPL Photofacial?

The medical specialists at New Skin Laser Center use IPL Photofacials to restore skin that is damaged by: -Hyperpigmentation -Rosacea -Oversized pores -Sun spots -Scars from acne -Spider veins -Fine lines -Wrinkles

What can I expect during treatment?

First, you’re situated comfortably in their state-of-the-art laser room. A cooling gel and numbing agent are then applied to the treatment area. When the session begins, the handheld laser glides across your skin while the light pulses and warms the area. You may feel a slight pinching or stinging, but it’s not extreme and doesn’t last long. Depending on what skin condition you’re tending to, the treatment can last between 30-90 minutes. You rest with an ice pack for a few minutes to contain any swelling. With an application of sunblock to protect your newly tender skin, you go on your way. A follow-up session is scheduled for a few weeks later.

How many treatments are needed?

You’ll notice some slight improvement after the first treatment, though maximum results from IPL Photofacial therapy are gradual and incremental. On average, Dr. Darush and Nurse Singh recommend four to six treatments spread out over six months. Individual results vary, so a member of your skincare team at New Skin Laser Center develops a treatment plan based on your skin’s condition and your goals.

Does an IPL Photofacial hurt?

You may be mildly uncomfortable during your IPL Photofacial, so numbing creams are available if you need them for the procedure. However, most men and women do fine in the 30-minute session and report that it didn’t hurt at all.
